Jake Lichter – Originally from Portland Maine and now living in Brooklyn, Jake has been playing, performing, teaching, and thinking about music as far back as he can remember. He played piano and percussion throughout high school, performing with various groups up and down the East Coast. He went to Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts where he studied music composition and piano/percussion. His thesis was a 30 minute chamber trio for piano, bass, and violin written about the month of October during said month. He has composed for and played various instruments on a number of studio albums in a wide variety of genres and musical styles. This is his first summer working at JAX.
“Working at JAX has been an incredible experience. Being involved with such a multi-faceted space gives me hope for the future. Offering free summer programs to teens, hosting experimental and otherwise out-there musical events on weekends, and open-to-the-public community events are just some of the amazing things JAX gives to its community. I’m truly honored to be a part of this “exchange” taking place here in Jersey City.”
