About

JAX’s mission is to educate the next generation of artists, technologists and digitally-literate citizens. JAX fosters mentorships between youth and established artists in the community. The JAX programs provides a safe and enriching learning environment in which young people work with older teens and adult mentors to explore ideas and develop skills in the areas of computer literacy, digital arts, STEM, photography, music and more.

History

Since 2014, JAX has worked with local artists, educators, community leaders, and business owners to present youth arts & tech programs, art shows, and music performances, in and around the Jersey City community. Following the success of these grassroots efforts, we have expanded to offer school-based services for youth.

In 2018-19 JAX was awarded a contract with the Jersey City Housing Authority to bring after-school programming to two of their location: Hudson Gardens and Holland Gardens. Our new program entitled PLAY! offers youth high quality after school enrichment activities that focus on the power of play. Play! will appeal to youth by offering arts, technology, and enrichment activities to help kids learn through play, with a focus on academic assistance, STEM curriculum, arts, and recreation for youth grades 2 through 8th.

In January 2021, Jax merged with Art House Productions. Now JAX seeks to broaden their services and continue their commitment to the Jersey City arts community and arts education by expanding JAX's core programs and building on Art House’s existing education programs.

About Art House Productions

Art House Productions was founded in late September 2001 by Christine Goodman, a community leader and professional performing artist. Art House began as an informal gathering of poets and community members in direct response to the tragedies of September 11th. Since then, Art House has established itself as a pioneer of artistic and cultural programming in Hudson County. In 2007 Art House became incorporated and was granted nonprofit 501(c)(3) status. In late 2007, the organization was presented with the Key to the City and an official Proclamation for its outstanding contributions to the City of Jersey City, NJ.

Art House Productions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to the development and presentation of the performing and visual arts in Jersey City, NJ. Art House Productions presents theater, performing and visual arts festivals, arts events, visual art exhibitions, and adult and youth art classes.
